Facilities
The facilities at Rock Farm Racing Stables have been designed in conjunction with industry leaders to ensure there is everything needed to get the best out of the horses, with their welfare as priority at all times.
Monarch Stables
The large, spacious barns have been utilised as the hub of the racing yard containing the stables, vets box, weighing scales, laundry room, feed room & tack rooms. They have been modernised with yorkshire boarding to allow plenty of natural daylight & ventilation at all times of the year.
The 57 stables are all supplied by Monarch Equestrian and although resemble timber are actually made of recycled plastic, which allows for improved hygiene & cleanliness. By design, every Monarch stable incorporates many safety features and includes rubber matting for improved comfort & safety.
Private Gallops
The gallops are one of the key requirements in a training yard and at Rock Farm there are two private gallops available on site, a 7 furlong uphill gallop & a 2 ½ furlong canter track, with different Andrews Bowen all-weather surfaces.
This allows the horses to gain the correct amount of stamina & speed work & means each horse has its own training programme dependant on needs.
The 120 acre self-contained farm allows for numerous horse walks within the safety of the farm without the need to use public roads, for the days when galloping is not required.
Schooling Facilities
The hurdles and fences are supplied by Easyfix, who also supply numerous racecourses in the UK and Ireland, meaning the experience the horses are getting in the yard replicates what is used at the track.
Training hurdles are used in the indoor school & on the circular gallop before the horses progress to the larger obstacles on the schooling strip outside.
ECB Equine Spa
The cold salt hydrotherapy spa is used to treat and prevent a multiple of injuries in 2°C saltwater. Having an equine spa onsite helps with injury prevention and is also used to increase mobility in the limbs before and after training.
Solarium
The equine solariums are powered by special infrared bulb heaters which provide a pleasant warming effect that can improve circulation and help to relax tense muscles. This treatment provides a valuable source of vitamin D, essential for joint and bone health and which also helps the body to absorb calcium. The solarium can be a useful way to complement the natural healing of a horse that has suffered minor abrasions or, perhaps, a sore back. Additionally, some horses exercise better if they have had a session in the solarium beforehand.
Paddocks
Rock Farm is set in a peaceful, rural location meaning the extensive turnout paddocks, which are used daily, give the horses the opportunity to have bit of freedom after their daily exercise in a relaxing, tranquil environment. Great for body & mind!
Indoor School
The large indoor school offers a perfect warm up area for the horses & is used daily before exercise. Assembling here ensures that each horse can be evaluated for health & fitness before proceeding to the gallops. This is also an invaluable area for teaching young horses to ride & for schooling horses as they start their jumping careers.
Horse Walkers
Two Monarch Horse Walkers are used for warm up, cool down and light exercise when necessary for horses that are recovering from injury. They are both outdoor but covered, meaning that the horses can get out of the barn environment even in the most extreme weather conditions.
Wash Bays
The wash down facilities are temperature controlled. Be it a freezing winter’s day or the middle of a heatwave we are always able to use water at the recommended temperature, making the cool down after exercise a pleasant experience for the horses.
George Smith Horseboxes
The yard has two of their own George Smith Renault Master 3.5T horseboxes, purchased brand new they are built & designed to their own specification, ensuring maximum comfort & safety for the horses whilst in transit.
Owners Suite
A owners suite has been built for visiting owners to have a comfortable environment & warm welcome so they can enjoy a coffee & review their races or discuss future plans for their horses.
